Simple Daily Tarot Practices for Pagan Spiritual Development

Tarot is a powerful tool for spiritual insight, self-reflection and divine connection—especially for those walking a pagan path. A daily tarot practice can help you strengthen your intuition, honor your deities and stay aligned with your spiritual goals.

Below you’ll find tips on simple and meaningful ways to use tarot every day as part of your spiritual development.

Why Create A Daily Tarot Practice As A Pagan?

For many modern pagans, daily spiritual practice is essential. It’s a way to stay grounded in your beliefs, commune with nature or the divine and reflect on your growth.

A daily tarot practice adds a layer of sacred reflection, helping you tap into messages from your guides, ancestors or the universe itself.

It’s important to keep in mind that a daily tarot practice doesn’t have to be time-consuming, which is a good thing since many of us have obligations that take up so much of our time. It’s important our practice helps us feel connected while bringing peace and calm into our lives.

I’m all about simple, yet profound practices because I have so many things vying for my attention, but I still want and need to have my spiritual practice too.

Get To Know Your Cards

It’s important to take some time to get to know your cards. This is a relationship that needs quiet nurturing. Take some time each day to become familiar with your cards.

You can do this by:

  • Shuffling your cards. Feel them in your hands. Move them around. By doing this, you are putting your energy in them.

  • Spending time looking at the images on the cards. Become familiar with the pictures and symbols on each card.

  • Recognizing any immediate feelings or thoughts that come across your mind.

Over time, you will start to get your own meanings on each card. This is when you know you have a strong connection with them.

1-Card Daily Pull: Your Spiritual Compass

Once you get to know your cards, the next step is with a one-card draw.

Start by shuffling your cards any way you feel comfortable with. Some people like to spread out the cards and draw one going by their feeling on which card calls to them. You can also lay them out in a pile after shuffling and pick the top card.

Sometimes a card will pop or fall out. I have an oracle deck this happens with. Sometimes one card will pop out; other times a couple of cards will and I know the universe has quite the message for me!

Ask a question like:

  • What energy do I need to embrace today?

  • What lesson is unfolding for me right now?

  • What guidance do my deities or guides have for me?

After pulling a card, jot down your thoughts in a tarot journal. Over time, you’ll notice patterns that reflect your spiritual growth and personal evolution.

Tip: Make this part of your morning ritual. Light incense, say a blessing or place your hand on your heart before you shuffle giving loving, positive energy to yourself.

Tarot And Pagan Devotion

Use your tarot deck to connect with your deities or spiritual allies. Each card can represent aspects of the divine. You can use a particular card for its specific meaning.

Or you can let a card come naturally to you by shuffling and interpreting its meaning, taking the message the universe is trying to send you.

For example:

  • The Empress might resonate with earth goddesses like Gaia or Demeter.

  • The Hermit could reflect the wisdom of Odin or Cerridwen.

  • The Sun may be a daily affirmation of solar deities or masculine energy.

  • The Moon may be an evening affirmation of lunar deities or feminine energy.

Try asking, “How can I honor [deity name] today?” and let the card guide your offering, meditation or spell work.

Tarot With The Pagan Wheel Of The Year

Another powerful way to integrate a daily tarot practice into your pagan path is by aligning with the Wheel of the Year.

In pagan traditions, the Wheel of the Year marks the turning of the seasons with eight sacred sabbats. Each sabbat carries its own energy, symbolism and spiritual themes, making them powerful touchpoints for your daily tarot practice.

By aligning your readings with these seasonal shifts, you create a rhythm that mirrors nature’s cycle, supporting deeper spiritual development.

Here’s how to work tarot into the Wheel throughout the year:

How to Use This Seasonally

In your daily tarot practice, pull one card each day that speaks to the seasonal energy. You might draw:

  • A card in the morning to set intentions in alignment with the sabbat

  • A card before ritual to receive divine insight

  • A card at night to reflect on how you embodied that sabbat’s themes

Even outside the sabbat days themselves, you can live in the seasonal current by attuning your readings to the energies of each quarter and cross-quarter point. This strengthens your intuitive bond with nature and brings deep spiritual insight as you walk the pagan path.

Tip: In daily practice, reflect on how the current season influences your spiritual needs.

Track Your Tarot Progress

A tarot journal is one of the most powerful tools you can use to support your daily tarot practice and it becomes even more potent when used as part of your overall pagan spiritual development. Think of it as a living grimoire: a sacred space where you can see your intuition develop and strengthen. It can deepen your connection to the cards and your intuition.

A tarot journal
A tarot journal is a great way to record your readings and notice patterns.

Writing down your daily pulls and including your interpretations and reflections, helps you track patterns over time and gain a deeper understanding of the messages you receive.

A journal turns your readings into a personal dialogue with your higher self, making it easier to see your growth, work through challenges and stay connected to your spiritual path.

Whether you're a beginner or seasoned reader, a tarot journal becomes a sacred space for insight, healing and transformation.

Combine Tarot With Meditation

After pulling your card, sit in stillness and meditate on the imagery and meaning. Let it guide you into a spiritual dialogue with your guides.

Trust the feelings or messages you receive. Don’t rush the process or try to analyze the messages right away. Let them come naturally and organically.

Afterwards, take a few moments to write down your thoughts and interpretations in your tarot journal.

Final Thoughts

Your daily tarot practice doesn’t have to be elaborate to be powerful. With intention, consistency, and a little sacred space, tarot can become a trusted companion on your spiritual path. Let each card be a whisper from the divine, a mirror of your soul and a guide through your magical life.
