Out Of The Broom Closet

For years I have kept my spirituality hidden. A large part of myself, the part of myself that felt most true, I kept hidden. Not because I was ashamed. I most certainly am not ashamed, but because of societal expectations and the reckoning that comes from attesting to the world that one is a witch.
We live in a world where people are more apt to be who they are and are more open to that. And what a beautiful thing it is. Some people know my spiritual beliefs and how akin I feel with nature. But most others would not know. I respect other peoples’ beliefs and hope others can do the same courtesy.
I am proud of who I am and I am open to how other people live, what they believe, who they love. Life is about choices and doing what feels right for oneself.
Being true to who you are. And that is why I am now coming out of the broom closet, as they say, and starting my passion project to write about the things that are important to me: spiritual topics, crystals, tarot, Reiki, motivational empowerment, etc.
Nature Spirituality
My nature spirituality runs deep. It’s been a part of me since I was young, before I even knew there was a label for it. Growing up, carrying tarot cards around, I was labeled as a witch (a term I am now proud of!). I was told I would go to hell by my peers. I had to not talk about certain things (tarot, astrology, anything that I loved really) when going to friends’ houses since even though my friend may be OK with it, their parents would not.

Being tired of being chastised for my beliefs, I didn’t divulge it to new people until I put my toes in the water and it felt right. Some people have known me for years and probably don’t have a clue.
So why now? Well, why not now? I have wanted to write on these topics for years. And, quite frankly, I am not getting any younger!
Why The Term “Witch”
But why the term “witch?” Because I want to break the bad connotation that comes from that word. A quick Google search on the term “witch” pops up the definition of people who use bad magic or have evil powers.
But that is not the true definition of the word “witch.”
A witch is someone who oftentimes has a connection with nature, are the seers of truth and healers. A lot of people who consider themselves a witch are trying to make the world a better place, not cast evil spells on people.
What Is Within The Witch?
So, Within The Witch came about to delve into the truths of what witches truly feel, how we live and are trying to make the world a better place. With topics on self-discovery and healing, there is something here for everyone no matter their belief system.
So welcome, dive in, dip your toes in, whatever feels right and know that what is within the witch is within us all.
